Our teachers

Every CurioKids lesson is live with a real teacher. We are hiring our founding teaching team. Roles include salaried positions and pay-per-lesson contracts. Here is how we recruit teachers, how they are checked before they can teach, and how we support them.

Who we look for

What we look for when we recruit

What we ask about when teachers apply to join our founding teaching team.

  • Experience teaching children

Tell us how long you have taught children and whether you hold a TEFL or CELTA certificate. The short form asks about both.

  • Young learners, 1-to-1

You'll teach live, 1-to-1 lessons to children aged 4–12, starting with Phonics Starter.

  • Reliable internet and a quiet space

Lessons are live video, so you need a reliable internet connection and a quiet space to teach from.

How we recruit

How we recruit new teachers

The steps for teachers who join us through this website. For every teacher, the checks below come first.

  1. Step 1: Express interest

Tell us about yourself and your teaching with the short form on this site. We reply by email.

  2. Step 2: Full application

You create a teacher account and complete the full application: your profile, qualifications, the hours you can teach and your documents. You can start it at any time, with no invitation needed.

  3. Step 3: Background check

You provide a background check, and our team confirms it before you can teach.

  4. Step 4: Teaching agreement

You sign our teaching agreement, which includes our safeguarding rules.

  5. Step 5: Approval

Only our team can approve a teacher to teach, and only after these steps.

Checked before they teach

No checks, no teaching

Teachers can't teach until our team has confirmed a background check and they have signed our teaching agreement.

  • Our team reviews every application

Teachers apply to teach with us, and only our team can approve a teacher to teach.

  • Background check confirmed

A teacher can't be approved until our team has confirmed their background check.

  • Teaching agreement signed

Every teacher signs our teaching agreement, which includes our safeguarding rules, before they can be approved.

How we keep children safe

How we support teachers

Everything a teacher needs, in one place

So every lesson can focus on your child.

  • Lessons ready to teach

Phonics Starter and the CEFR-based levels come with ready-made lesson slides, so teachers can focus on the child in front of them.

  • Everything in one classroom

Video, an interactive whiteboard, lesson slides and games, all inside the CurioKids classroom.

  • Feedback in one place

After lessons, teachers give feedback, which parents see alongside their child's progress in the parent dashboard.

Meeting your child's teacher

We don't publish teacher profiles on this website. Your child meets a teacher in their free first lesson, and you can see your child's lessons and their teacher's feedback in your parent account.
