Adding lessons a week brings the price of each lesson down; Starter keeps the total lowest. There are no extra charges for the classroom or progress reports.
Which currency do families in Türkiye pay in?
Plans for families in Türkiye are priced in US dollars. Select Türkiye as your country when you create your parent account, and the prices you see and the payments you make are in dollars.
With a card in Turkish lira, your bank may convert each dollar payment into lira, so your statement may show a lira amount. Stripe processes the payment, and CurioKids never sees your full card number.
What comes with every plan?
Every plan includes the same: live, 1-to-1, 25-minute lessons with a real teacher for children aged 4 to 12, in the CurioKids online classroom with video, an interactive whiteboard, lesson slides and games. Most children start with Phonics Starter, our 52-lesson reading course, then move through CEFR-based levels Pre-A1, A1 and A2. Teachers give feedback after lessons, you follow progress in your parent dashboard, and there is no charge for materials. See our curriculum and safety pages.
For a child who reads Turkish, the reading course is where much of the value lies. Turkish spelling is very regular, so children expect each letter to keep one sound; in English it doesn't, and letters such as c and j sound different from Turkish. Phonics sets out the English patterns in order. CurioKids follows its own curriculum rather than the school programme, and the speaking and reading help in class too.
How does 4-weekly billing fit the school year in Türkiye?
The school year in Türkiye starts in September and ends in June, with a break between the two terms in winter. Months differ in length and in school days, but a 4-week billing period always holds the same lessons, so you know what each payment buys.
Plans bill every 4 weeks, not by calendar month, so every billing period has the same number of lessons: 13 payments a year. Every plan can be paid weekly instead, and paying every 4 weeks costs less than four weekly payments. You're charged when you subscribe and then at the start of each billing period. Your price is locked on your subscription, so future price changes don't affect you. You can change plan or cancel anytime, and cancel a single lesson up to 2 hours before it starts.
If you're away for the winter break or a religious holiday, cancel the lessons you'll miss and keep your plan. Over the long summer, some families move up to Growth to keep English going; others keep Starter so the holiday stays light.
When can a child in Türkiye have lessons?
When you book, every lesson time is shown in Türkiye time. Türkiye keeps the same clock all year, so a Tuesday slot in October is the same local time in May. After school, roughly 4pm to 8pm, works on most school days, around homework and dinner. The weekend is Saturday and Sunday, and a morning lesson on either day suits children who are tired after school.
Where the teacher lives may change its clocks, so your lesson time could move by an hour in late March and late October. Check the times of the next few lessons then. Our guide to online lessons across time zones explains the details.
Which plan fits a child in Türkiye?
Weigh the English your child gets at school against the rest of their week:
- Starter, 1 lesson a week: a child who has English at school and wants a weekly chance to talk, or a child with a full timetable of homework and activities.
- Growth, 2 lessons a week: a child of six or seven whose Turkish reading is taking off, with English phonics growing alongside it.
- Accelerator, 3 lessons a week: a child at a private school that teaches more in English who wants to keep up, or an older beginner ready to move quickly.
You can change plan whenever you need to. Our guide how many English lessons a week does my child need? walks through it, and online English lessons for children in Türkiye explains English at school here.
How does the cost compare with English courses and private tutors in Türkiye?
Many families in Türkiye add English outside school, through a language course, a private tutor or lessons online. Courses often charge by the term and tutors by the hour, so set them on equal terms before you compare:
- The fee for one lesson, worked out from the term or package price, and its length in minutes.
- Class size, and how many minutes your child speaks English rather than listens.
- Whether reading is taught with phonics, or mainly through grammar and vocabulary lists.
- Fees for books, placement or registration that sit outside the lesson price.
- How you stop or pause: notice periods, terms paid in advance or refunds.
A course group spreads the teacher's time across several children, which lowers the cost per hour and the speaking time with it. Our guide 1-to-1 or group English classes: which suits my child? compares the two.
Can my child in Türkiye try a free first lesson?
Yes. Create a parent account, add your child and book the free first lesson; no card is needed. The teacher talks with your child, sees what they can already do and records a starting level, so lessons for children aged 4 to 12 begin at the right place. If you decide not to continue, you have nothing to pay.
CurioKids opens to families country by country. If lessons for families in Türkiye haven't opened yet, you'll see a waitlist where the prices would be. Our guide on what to look for in a free first lesson suggests what to watch for.

Frequently asked questions

Plans for families in Türkiye are priced in US dollars. If your card is in Turkish lira, your bank may convert each payment, so the amount on your statement may be shown in lira.
Do lesson times change when other countries change their clocks?
Türkiye keeps the same clock all year, so your slot stays the same in Türkiye time. If your child's teacher is somewhere that changes its clocks, check lesson times in late March and late October.
Do CurioKids lessons follow the Turkish school English programme?
