Families in Thailand pay for CurioKids in Thai baht, and the three plans differ in one way only: whether your child has 1, 2 or 3 lessons a week. Each lesson is live and 1-to-1 with a real teacher for 25 minutes, and you can be billed every 4 weeks or weekly. The first lesson is free, with no card needed. This guide covers paying in baht, how billing fits the Thai school year and the hot-season break, when lessons fit a week in Thailand, and how to compare the cost with tutoring schools and private tutors.

Key takeaways

  • CurioKids prices for families in Thailand are shown and charged in Thai baht.
  • Plans differ only in lessons a week: 1 on Starter, 2 on Growth, 3 on Accelerator.
  • Billing every 4 weeks keeps each payment to the same number of lessons, through term time and the long break alike.
  • With no journey, a lesson can start soon after your child gets home, even on days when traffic makes everyone late.

How much do CurioKids lessons cost in Thailand?

You choose from three plans, and what changes between them is the number of lessons: Starter has 1 a week, Growth has 2 and Accelerator has 3. The lesson itself never changes: 25 minutes, live, 1-to-1, with a real teacher in the CurioKids online classroom.

Each lesson works out cheaper on a plan with more lessons a week, while Starter has the lowest payment. Nothing is added for using the classroom.

Can families in Thailand pay in baht?

Yes. Choose Thailand as your country when you create your parent account, and every CurioKids price appears in Thai baht and is charged in Thai baht. A card from a Thai bank pays the amount on screen with no conversion between the price and your statement.

If you use a card from a bank outside Thailand, that bank may convert the baht amount at its own rate. Payments are taken by Stripe, so CurioKids never sees your full card number.

What does the plan price pay for?

Every plan includes the same: live, 1-to-1, 25-minute lessons with a real teacher for children aged 4 to 12, in the CurioKids online classroom with video, an interactive whiteboard, lesson slides and games. Most children start with Phonics Starter, our 52-lesson reading course, then move through CEFR-based levels Pre-A1, A1 and A2. Teachers give feedback after lessons, you follow progress in your parent dashboard, and there is no charge for materials. See our curriculum and safety pages.

For a child in Thailand, the value is often in two places. Class lessons at school give each child only a few chances to speak, and a 1-to-1 lesson is mostly your child talking. And because Thai script works differently from English letters, a reading course that teaches English sounds one at a time gives a clear start, whatever your child's school programme.

How does 4-weekly billing fit the Thai school year?

The Thai school year generally starts in May and runs in two terms, with a short break between them and a long break in the hot season before the next year begins. Your child's school has the exact dates. Billing every 4 weeks means you never pay more in a long month or less in a short one.

Plans bill every 4 weeks, not by calendar month, so every billing period has the same number of lessons: 13 payments a year. Every plan can be paid weekly instead, and paying every 4 weeks costs less than four weekly payments. You're charged when you subscribe and then at the start of each billing period. Your price is locked on your subscription, so future price changes don't affect you. You can change plan or cancel anytime, and cancel a single lesson up to 2 hours before it starts.

The long break is a good time to start, or to move up to Growth for a few weeks while there is room in the day. When school starts again in May, you can step back down. If you travel for Songkran or another family holiday, cancel the lessons you'll miss and keep the plan.

What time would lessons be in Thailand?

When you book, every lesson time is shown in Thailand time. Thailand doesn't change its clocks, so a slot stays at the same hour all year. On school days, roughly 4pm to 8pm suits most children; on Saturday or Sunday, a morning lesson catches them before the day's plans. A 25-minute lesson needs no journey, which matters when evening traffic is heavy.

Give your child a snack first and keep the slot the same each week. Our guide to online lessons across time zones has more on picking a time.

Which plan would suit my child in Thailand?

Think about how much English your child meets outside the classroom, and how many other activities share the week:

  • Starter: a child in an English Program class who mainly needs a regular chance to speak, or a child with a full timetable of tutoring and sport.
  • Growth: a child learning to read English with Phonics Starter, who benefits from two short lessons close together while the letter sounds are new.
  • Accelerator: a child who hears Thai at home and little English anywhere else, and who has the energy for three lessons a week.

Keep reading in Thai at home whichever you choose. You can change plan as you learn what works. See how many English lessons a week does my child need? and our guide to online English lessons for children in Thailand.

How does the cost compare with tutoring schools and private tutors in Thailand?

Many families in Thailand already use a tutoring school, a private tutor or a weekend group class. Fees come per course, per hour or per month, so look past the headline figure:

  • The fee divided by the number of lessons in the course or month.
  • Minutes per lesson, and how many of those minutes your child speaks English.
  • Class size: a tutoring school group, a small group, or one child with one teacher.
  • Whether a missed lesson is lost, can be moved, or can be cancelled ahead of time.
  • Books, registration and the cost and time of travelling across town.

Groups cost less per hour because families share the teacher; 1-to-1 gives your child every minute. Read 1-to-1 or group English classes: which suits my child? for a fuller comparison.

Is the first lesson free in Thailand?

Yes. You open a parent account, add your child and book without a card. In the 25-minute lesson the teacher meets your child, checks their English and sets a starting level, for children aged 4 to 12. Afterwards you decide; if you don't continue, you pay nothing and have nothing to cancel.

CurioKids opens country by country, so if lessons for families in Thailand haven't opened yet, a waitlist appears here instead of prices. Our guide on what to look for in a free first lesson helps you judge it.

Frequently asked questions

Are CurioKids prices for Thailand in baht?

Yes. Families who choose Thailand when they sign up see and pay CurioKids prices in Thai baht, so a card from a Thai bank pays with no currency conversion.

Is the hot-season break a good time to start?

It often is, because the day has more room. You can start on one plan, add lessons during the break and move back to fewer lessons when the new school year begins.

Do CurioKids lessons follow the English Program at my child's school?

No. CurioKids follows its own CEFR-based curriculum and is not linked to any school programme or exam in Thailand, though the speaking and reading your child builds help in every English class.
