What does each CurioKids plan cost in Singapore?

The three plans differ only in how many lessons your child has each week. The lessons themselves are identical: 25 minutes, live and 1-to-1 with a real teacher in the CurioKids online classroom. These are the standard prices for families in Singapore:

Each per-lesson price is the 4-weekly price shared across the lessons in those 4 weeks: 4 on Starter, 8 on Growth and 12 on Accelerator. Accelerator has the lowest price per lesson and Starter the lowest total. When an offer is running for families in Singapore, our Singapore pricing page shows it with its terms.

What do I get for the price?

Each plan covers your child's lessons and what comes with them:

  • Live 1-to-1 teaching. A real teacher for the full 25 minutes, for children aged 4 to 12.
  • An online classroom built for children. Live video, an interactive whiteboard, lesson slides and games.
  • A clear path. Phonics Starter, our 52-lesson reading course from letter sounds to reading sentences, then CEFR-based levels Pre-A1, A1 and A2. Most children start with Phonics Starter; a child who already reads can be placed straight into a CEFR-based level after the free first lesson.
  • Updates for you. Teacher feedback after lessons, progress in your parent dashboard and a certificate (PDF) each time your child moves up a level.
  • Checks and safeguards. Teachers can't teach until our team has confirmed a background check and they have signed our teaching agreement, and a “Report a concern” button is in every lesson.

How is a plan billed?

Billing runs every 4 weeks, not every calendar month. Because months vary in length, the number of weekly lessons in a month varies too; a 4-week cycle always holds the same number of lessons. Over a year that is 13 payments.

Any plan can be paid weekly instead, for the same lessons. Paying every 4 weeks costs less than four weekly payments: Growth, for example, is S$139 every 4 weeks or S$37 a week.

The free first lesson costs nothing. You're charged when you subscribe to a plan, then at the start of each billing period. Your price is locked on your subscription, so future price changes don't affect you. Payments are handled by Stripe, and CurioKids never sees your full card number.

What happens in the free first lesson?

Create a parent account, add your child and book a time; no card is needed. During the 25-minute lesson, the teacher gets to know your child, checks their English and records a starting level so lessons begin in the right place. Afterwards you decide whether to continue, and if you don't, there is nothing to cancel or pay. Our guide to what to look for in a free first lesson suggests what to watch.

Can I switch plans or stop?

Yes. Switch plans whenever your child's week changes, for instance to Starter during a busy school term and back to Growth in the holidays. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Plan changes are prorated, except in the few cases our Terms set out, where a change starts at the end of a billing period; the app shows which before you confirm. A single lesson can be cancelled up to 2 hours before it starts.

How does the price compare with group tuition?

Group classes are often cheaper per hour, because several children share the teacher. The trade-off is time: in a group, each child waits their turn to speak and the lesson follows the group's pace. In a 1-to-1 lesson your child speaks, reads and answers for most of the lesson, and the teacher adjusts to them minute by minute.

So a shorter 1-to-1 lesson can give a young child as much speaking practice as a longer group class, without the travel. A group has its own strengths, such as learning with friends. Read 1-to-1 or group English classes: which suits my child? for a fuller comparison, and How to choose an online English tutor in Singapore for the questions to ask any provider.

What should I check when comparing English tuition prices?

Prices are quoted per lesson, per month or per term, so put them on the same footing:

  • The price per lesson and the length of each lesson.
  • Whether the lesson is 1-to-1 or a group, and live or recorded.
  • How often you're billed and how much you pay up front, for example a whole term in advance.
  • What happens to a missed lesson, and how cancelling works.
  • Registration, materials or assessment fees on top of the lesson price.
  • For a centre, the travel time and transport cost each week.

Then think about your child's week. A plan with fewer lessons that your child enjoys and keeps up will usually do more than a busier one that leaves them tired. Our guide on how many English lessons a week a child needs can help you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Why are plans billed every 4 weeks instead of monthly?
